Since its establishment, Organization has been conducting various campaigns and advocacy programs to ensure labor rights and human rights for women workers engaged in the entertainment and hospitality sector. Every year, WOFOWON organizes the Feminist Talent Forum, which brings women workers together to showcase the hidden and suppressed talents and skills of women, ensuring recognition, respect, and security for their work.
This campaign was launched on Ashoj 8, 2071 (September 24, 2014). The program was initiated with the concept and facilitation of the organization’s Founder/Executive Director, Ms. Gomawati Pun (Srijana), and Program Coordinator, Ms. Anisha Luitel. Whether it’s work inside the home or outside, women’s work has not been properly valued or recognized, resulting in society still viewing women as second-class citizens and treating them accordingly. Due to the lack of recognition of women’s work, they have been forced to endure various forms of violence and abuse based on their work. Every person is born with different skills and abilities, and each person is unique with some hidden talent.
To bring out these talents, it is essential to provide equal opportunities. Even if one possesses talent and skills, if equal opportunities are not provided, these talents may gradually fade away. Along with the opportunities provided by others, it is also necessary to continuously respect one’s own work and make efforts to bring out the hidden talents. With the aim of creating an environment that recognizes and respects work and brings out hidden talents, the organization has been continuously running programs by establishing the Feminist Talent Forum. A special program or platform is not always necessary to showcase one’s talents; talents can be brought out in any place and under any circumstances, and the Feminist Talent Forum is a great example of this. Workers Show cased their talent such as dance, Singing, cooking, handicraft products, open massage, Open art Spaces, Photo Stories etc.
