Women Forum for Women in Nepal (WOFOWON) is the first non-governmental Organization initiated at 2002 AD and registered in the Kathmandu District Administration Office on 19th March 2008 AD. Since, its establishment, WOFOWON has been actively engaged in promoting the identity, respect and recognition of workers in the entertainment and hospitality sectors i.e. Dance Bar, Dohori (a form of duet communication through songs performed by groups of women and men), Khajaghar (small local snack restaurants), Cabin restaurants, massage and spas centers. WOFOWON also committed to ensure safe dignified and violence-free workplaces through various activities and campaigns, grounded in feminist perspectives and democratic principles against patriarchy and harmful traditional practices.
WOFOWON initiatives address entertainment and hospitality sector’s pressing Women’s human rights violations, recognizing every individual’s inherent right to work in an environment free from exploitation, harassment, and discrimination. The organization recognize the pervasive gender discrimination perpetuated within this sector and aim to dismantle such barriers by promoting gender equality and empowering female workers to assert their rights confidently, thereby safeguarding workers’ physical and mental well-being.

WOFOWON will establish as a leading campaign-based national organization that functions with the premise of feminist perspective ensuring equality, dignity, safety and violence free workplace as a prerequisite for identification recognition and respect of women workers in the entertainment and hospitality sectors.

To organize campaign with holistic integrated approach, fostering coordination and collaboration with related stakeholders, thereby progressively empowering and developing their leadership and advocating for the rights of women workers of entertainment and hospitality sectors.

Objectives
Working Approach:
Facilitating campaigns on promoting collective leadership development and empowerment of women workers, based on a human rights approach, by enabling their participation in decision-making processes. Providing necessary support based on evidence and truth, emphasizing collaboration and ensuring support grounded in truth and facts.

Geographical Working Areas
Women Forum for Women in Nepal has been conducting its campaigns in various areas of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Tokha Municipality, Tarakeshwar Municipality and Nagarjuna Municipality, focusing on Dance bars, Dohori, Cabin restaurants, Khajaghar and Spa/Massage centers. WOFOWON has been expanding its campaigns and outreach activities to cities such as Butwal, Chitwan, Itahari, Jhapa, Biratnagar, Pokhara, and Hetauda, aiming to empower working women and establish district-level networks for empowerment. Programs are also initiated to the needs of other major cities like Nepalgunj, Dang, and Dhangadhi.
